About eTEFL Online
eTEFL Online Teacher Training was established in 2016 with the aim of providing quality training to people looking to get TEFL certified. After the boom in online English teaching in 2017 and 2018, we decided to focus on training new teachers and help them launch careers as online English teachers.
We brought together a diverse and talented team to put together complete online training programs that not only include the TEFL course but everything else you'll need to become a successful online English teacher.
After your TEFL course is complete, you can begin our 30-hour online teaching practicum where you'll practice teaching online with real ESL students in a monitored environment.
You will then move on to our career mentorship program where we can work on the non-academic tasks required like resume writing, job interview practice, mock lesson practice, freelance profile creation, along with everything else you'll need to launch a career, secure interviews (and pass them) and get your own private students.
We also provide specialist exam preparation courses for Cambridge and IELTS to help you specialise in the exam preparation niche — set yourself apart from the competition and give yourself the chance to charge more per hour.
You'll also have access to our ever-growing resource library and lifetime support through our dedicated graduate support groups.
We don't just sell you a TEFL course. We are with you every step of the way for as long as you need to make sure that you succeed!

Jody van der Westhuizen
Founder
Jody founded eTEFL Online Teacher Training in 2016. He earned his teaching certification in 2006 and spent 14 years as an ESL teacher specialising in Cambridge Assessment English.
Dr. Daniel Portman
TEFL Course Manager
Daniel has a doctorate in education and has been training ESL teachers for over 20 years. He moderates the TEFL course to ensure that accreditation standards are met and you are receiving the best education.
Roxanne Botha
TEFL Tutor
Roxanne has a degree in education, is TEFL certified and has over 6 years of online and face-to-face teaching experience. She is the TEFL course tutor and head of studies for the 30-hour IELTS exam preparation course.
Zander Botha
Mentorship Director
Zander has over a decade of experience as a mentor and coach as well as 3 years of online teaching experience. He heads up the career mentorship program and will help you navigate the job market after you earn your TEFL certificate.
Pepi Malamoglou
Mentor
Pepi is an experienced accredited trainer with a background in coaching sales professionals in the healthcare industry. She has been teaching English online since 2021 and has been mentoring for eTEFL since 2024.
