The eTEFL Online Self-Study Mentorship Course

Working Through the eTEFL Online Self-Study Mentorship Course – Part 3 - eTEFL OnlineHello and welcome back to part 3 of my blog series!

My name is Thapelo Ntlhabo and I am from South Africa.

I am in the process of building my TEFL career and I have been offered a temporary TEFL-related gig by www.eteflonline.com which I would like to share with you.

My assignment is to test drive their self-study Mentorship Program and then write (or report back) about it here in this space.

You can read Part 2 of my series here https://eteflonline.com/tefl-online-self-study-mentorship-course-part-2/

WEEK 3 – Session 2 – continued

Step 5 – Write your resume (use the template provided as reference) = ✅

I am running behind. I thought that this week I would be reporting back on Session 3 (Interview Preparation). But I am still busy completing steps 5 and 6 of Session 2. There is life outside TEFL matters after all. At least now step 5 (Resume/CV) is done. I am tackling step 6 (Intro Video) next. The fact that I am behind a little bit is not a train smash. The beauty of the self-study feature of this mentorship course is that one can go through it at their own pace.

Working Through the eTEFL Online Self-Study Mentorship Course – Part 3 - eTEFL OnlineI must admit that I really loved putting together my CV. Going back to check my educational qualifications and one’s work history was a pleasure. It brought back good memories.

And the editable nature of the resume template provided made it such a breeze to create the kind of CV I wanted.

I can’t say what the next post will be about or when it will be. I am taking it one completed task at a time. But it is possible that one may now start posting more than once a week on occasion.

Step 6 – Write one video script targeting potential adult students on a public freelance platform and proceed to record the video = ✅

“Nerve-racking,” is all I can say about an Intro Video shoot. I did lots and lots of takes, but I was still not entirely happy with the final product. In the end, I had to stop and go with one of the better versions of the video because I quickly realised that perfection is an illusion. You just do your best and move on. In fact, what I have heard is that most people are never really happy with their first Intro Videos. So I am just happy that this step/task is now over and done with.

I have now completed Session 2 (Resume and Introduction Video) of this mentorship course. I am doing Session 3 (Interview Preparation) next.

You can find out more about the Mentorship Program here https://eteflonline.com/tefl-mentorship-program/

The Self-Study Mentorship Program is included in all Standard Programs including the Standard Online Teacher Training Program for people who are just starting out and the Standard Mentorship Bundle for people who already have a TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA certificate but need help in launching their online teaching careers.
